BIGGEST WEEK MOVIE NIGHTS
Golden Eagles: Witnesses to a Changing West
Date: Friday, May 6, 2022
Time: 7-9 PM
Location: Maumee Bay State Park Lodge
Cost: $5
Registration required: Yes
The powerful golden eagle faces serious challenges throughout its North American range. In the sagebrush steppe of the American West, the bird is affected by habitat loss from development, fire, agriculture, and invasive plants; significant loss of prey species; collisions with vehicles and manmade structures such as wind turbines; electrocution on power lines; poisoning; poaching; and other factors. Threats are increasing, and golden eagles are a species of serious conservation concern. Widespread conservation of wildlife and habitats is contingent on public support, which our film will generate.
“Golden Eagles: Witnesses to a Changing West.” a Wild Excellence Films production will inspire viewers by taking them on a journey of grand vistas and intimate details. From vast sagebrush to the power of an eagle’s foot, the film will explore current golden eagle research; the sagebrush-steppe habitat; threats to the birds and possible solutions; and the outlook for golden eagles in Wyoming and beyond. A diverse group of people, from biologists to wildlife experts to Native American historians, will be part of a film that weaves together science and compelling storytelling to reach the hearts and minds of viewers.
