Thousands of people will be coming to northwest
Ohio for The Biggest Week to get in on the best
spring-time birding in the country. The area
around Black Swamp Bird Observatory in northwest
Ohio offers incredible displays of migrating
warblers and songbirds. The boardwalk at Magee
Marsh Wildlife Area offers stunning, eye-to-eye
views of migrating songbirds.
However, Adams and Scioto Counties have a few
rare offerings you are not likely to find on the North Coast. Prairie Warblers and
Yellow-breasted Chats should be an easy “tick”
in this part of the county. Add to that the rare Henslow’s
Sparrow and Blue Grosbeak and you’ll know why a
trip to Adams County is a must for the serious
birder. We will get all the regulars here, too: Summer Tanager, Hooded Warbler, Scarlet Tanager,
Blue-headed Vireo, and a possible Ruffed Grouse.
The birding is good, and Greg Miller is a real
treat.
